Happy St Patrick's Day

Today is the day when we all go out for a jar or six and generally celebrate St Patrick.

A few years ago I was in Hong Kong on this day and in an Irish pub was tempted to a few jars of green beer.

On visiting the gents ... I was more than a bit surprised to find that the green colouring went through too !!!

Time for some lovely Kenmare River Salmon now and maybe just a small Guinness.

Picture Phoning

Picture Phoning seems to have taken off like a rocket.
Camera phones now have high res capabilites at least as good as lower end digital cameras.
I guess that in future all cameras will be small ...

This has led to both good and bad consequences.

On The Good side -

Digitizer3 has been launched - a nifty utility that turns your cameraphone (high res only !) into a combination scanner/fax/photocopier - so you can scan info with photos and send it right back to the office.

Blueherenow is an interesting site that is a compilation of interesting photos, videos and sounds from around the world ... worth visiting (with some fascinating links !)

Museums are encouraging cell phone use and some are offering free audio guided tours when you visit them instead of renting you headsets - saves all that business of deposits, cleaning, stolen headsets etc. I think that could spread quickly to all museums when they realise that they could put the service on a premium rate line !

Then there's the seedier side of camera phones, the bad news -
apart from the truly horrificpix of kids, happyslaping etc, there's a rather disturbing trend to people publishing naked photos of themselves ... and some of them just SHOULDN'T !

I suppose its all about the mental attitude of the people taking the pictures and it's a logical extension of the late-night tv shows showing rather rude things from nightclubs
