Bank Holiday in Ireland
What a weekend it was - Kenmare was full of rally cars and spectators trying to park (and VERY rude some of the rally drivers were too )We were besieged with people wanting to stay and some inconsiderate person who'd booked two rooms just didn't turn up - despite phone a couple of times to say he was on his way (actually he got his kid to do that) and then finally admitting at 9.30 that he was still in Dingle - a 2 and a half hour drive away.
That was really annoying - not just for the loss of income (it's one of the few weekends we ge a number of guests) but the fact that we had four parties of lost tourists who were desperate for a room ... and I tried really hard to help them by phoning other b&b's but without success - so I ended up with two empty rooms on the busiest night of the year ! And with the cerain knowledge that I could have had them filled.
The Rally did after all close the mountain road and Kenmare was like a ghost town while the spectators went to the hills to watch other people drive cars in the rain !
It's very quiet here now but it looks like August will be really busy.
I drove to Torc Falls yesterday and got some great shots of the falls in full spate with a truly beautiful Spring Green everywhere.
